I am Mark Marcoux. I was born and raised in Michigan and enlisted in the Navy, a year out of high school. I served over 24 years to include 6 ships between San Diego, California and Mayport, Florida.
Since retirement, I have been employed in the Assessments Division in the Regional Maintenance Center at Mayport Naval station.
I serve as a covenant member at The Church of Eleven 22 where I am a key member and lead in the setup and teardown of the portable church campus in Creekside H. S. while the permanent campus is being built across the street from the school.
For the majority of my life, I did not have a rhythmic bone in my body and was too shy to try dance. Over the past few years, my interest changed as I watched my friends dance. I thought “Wow! That looks so cool, I’d like to do that” When I came across a sign in front of Ballroom Dance Academy, I began my journey. I continue to stay involved with the studio’s events and I participate in every opportunity I can to help in the success of the studio, the patrons and Pro’s.
Not unlike participating in team sports as a child and the camaraderie I developed with the Navy, I find that dance not only allows me to stay physically fit, it also provides the opportunity to stay emotionally and mentally involved in something that gives me stability and depth. I do not know where or how far I am going with dance, however I did attend last year’s First Coast Dancing with the Stars and am proud to be a participant this coming year.

Star Mark Marcoux will be dancing with Pro Ekaterina Derevleva.
