Brad May grew up in rural NC near the town of Greensboro. He studied mathematics and music at St Andrews College, and engineering at UNC-Charlotte. He has worked as an educator, engineer, music director, and piano teacher. He says his greatest memories are those special teachable moments when a young person gains a skill and recognizes their achievement. Brad has sung in a multitude of musical organizations and has competed with barbershop quartets and choruses. “I remember the time my quartet was performing the half time show at an NBA game with Clay Aiken right in front of us and Michael Jordan right behind us. No, I wasn’t nervous at all.” Sure, sure he wasn’t.

Brad thanks his parents for his altruistic nature. He has been involved in fundraising and helping others for most of his life. He has created several characters to engage the community in fundraising including Dingle the Elf, who has been seen on stage singing scurrilous songs about Santa Claus, and Fester N Rotte, who may or may not be responsible for the nightmares of children everywhere. As a musician and educator, he is humbled and thrilled to be involved with the Beaches Fine Arts 23Series.

Brad currently sings with the choir at St John’s Cathedral in Jacksonville. He lives in Historic Springfield with his husband and four cats.
