Valerie Benton is a Senior Corporate Marketing Representative with WJCT- Jax PBS TV and News 89.9- NPR radio.  She has always loved PBS and NPR for the arts, entertainment and the educational components.  WJCT is a natural fit for her, and she loves her work.

Valerie is originally from New York City and chose Jacksonville to be her home 30 years ago.  She moved here to be able to enjoy the outdoors, the beach and boating most of the year.    She is proud to call Jacksonville home.

She was introduced to the arts at an early age.  Her parents took the family to the theatre, dance performances and museums regularly.  She learned to have a great appreciation for the arts which has continued to this day.

She has been missing theatre, concerts and dancing over the past year due to the pandemic.   She believes the arts brings us all together and is anxious to dance again.

Valerie says “It’s been a tough year and I live by this mantra my Mom taught me:

I get up.

I walk.

I fall down.

Meanwhile, I keep dancing.

I love dancing because I am in the present moment and I don’t have any worries or concerns.  I hear the music and move to it.”

She loves to spend time with her family and going boating, bicycling and traveling.

She is proud to support the Beaches Fine Arts Association and excited to be in Dancing with the Stars!
